Caterpillar Global Petroleum has begun taking orders for its new Cat Well Stimulation Pumps, designed for the well service market. Both the Cat WS223, a 2250 bhp (1678 bkW) triplex and the Cat WS255, a 2500 bhp (1864 bkW) quintuplex well stimulation pump are currently available, with a 2700hp triplex pump scheduled for release in late 2013. The latter will be on display along with other fluid end models at the Caterpillar booth #3341 at OTC 2013, May 6-9 in Houston, Texas. Caterpillar will also offer a selection of 8” and 10” stroke fluid ends individually.

“At Caterpillar, our goal is to provide the most reliable and durable power solutions for the Well Service and Pressure Pumping market. By adding the well stimulation pumps to our portfolio of offerings we are able to provide a more comprehensive pressure pumping solution for our customers,” says Mark Helgren, Caterpillar Global Petroleum integration manager. “Our customers, who have been pleased with our engines and transmissions, will be able to readily implement the Cat well stimulation pumps into their operations with the utmost confidence in their performance and Cat Dealer support.”

Cat Well Stimulation Pump fluid ends and power ends conform to an industry standard footprint, allowing easy installation into existing trailer designs. The Cat pump also offers an Extreme Duty (XD) fluid end ideal for use in challenging conditions due to its increased durability. The fluid ends on both the WS223 and WS255 models feature simplified valve-over-valve design and seat and plunger installation; each fluid end block is manufactured with a robust material conditioning process. A wide range of discharge flanges, suction manifolds, and bore sizes will also be available.

The new Cat pumps will be distributed and sold throughout the company’s 2,100 worldwide dealer locations, supported by trained technicians who will ensure high quality and readily available service support for customers. More information will be available in the Caterpillar booth (#3341) at OTC Houston, May 6-9. Regular updates will be available on Twitter; search for #OTCHOUSTON and #CatatOTC.
