A Better, Faster Way to Source Pumps

KSB to Launch Ixo-Pro, Automatic Submersible Pump

KSB is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pumps, valves and related equipment. The company recently announced its newest product offering: a fully automatic submersible pump called Ixo-Pro. Easy installation makes this pump ideal for all rainwater harvesting and pressure boosting applications.

The pump set is fitted with an integrated pressure switch, flow sensor and lift check valve, meaning it does not require an automatic control unit or a pressure vessel. For example, if a tap is opened, the pressure in the system will decrease and the Ixo-Pro will automatically turn on via the integrated switchgear. The pump will continue to operate until no more water is required. The pump is also protected against dry run; it will automatically turn off when the water drops below minimum levels.

The Ixo-Pro system primarily meets the needs of home owners who cannot employ a self-priming pump because their rainwater storage tank is located too far from the house, with a 15-m long power cable that allows it to be installed at a distance. The 230-volt shockproof plug is also easy to install for non-experts. The pump can also be installed close to the house, and does not emit excessive noise.

Designed with a multistage hydraulic system, IXO-Pro is capable of generating pressures of up to 6 bar and can handle flow rates up to 3,900 liters per hour. All wetted parts are made of stainless steel, while a double mechanical seal between the motor and the hydraulic system protects the electric components from moisture. The pump is available in two sizes with water-cooled motors of 0.8 or 1.2 kW drive rating.

An optional membrane-type accumulator is recommended for permanent installations. This can prevent the pump from being started and stopped due to leaking taps. It also reduces surge pressure, which can be caused by quick-closing spray guns.
