A Better, Faster Way to Source Pumps

Sulzer opens sixth factory in China

Sulzer recently announced the opening of a new wastewater pump production plant in China. The Kunshan location will employee 70 people and produce about 10,000 pumps, mixers and compressors annually for the Chinese market and eventually other Asian countries. The plant’s products target the water supply and wastewater treatment industries.

“The production facility in Kunshan will increase our competitiveness in China and shorten our delivery times,” says Kim Jackson, president of Sulzer Pumps.

Sulzer is positioning its products China’s rapidly growing wastewater market. Nearly two-thirds of China’s cities have water supply problems, and massive projects such as the three-route South-North Water Transfer Project and desalination plans on the coast are trying to stem the water demand.

Sulzer has been operating in China for almost 100 years, and Kunshan factory is the company’s sixth plant in the country. The Sulzer Pumps division has two other manufacturing facilities in Dalian and Suzhou to manufacture pumps for other market segments including the hydrocarbon processing industry, oil and gas, power generation, and pulp and paper industries.
